Description

Au XVIe siècle, Martin revient dans son village natal d’Artigat,après plusieurs années passées à la guerre. L’homme se rappelle tout, les habitants, leur histoire et jusqu’au moindre détail. Après quelque temps, des vagabonds identifient Martin comme Arnaud du village voisin de Tilh, mais les villageois rejettent ces revendications comme des mensonges. Mais quand Martin fait une demande d’argent à son oncle, l’oncle est indigné et attaque Martin.

Synopsis : Village of Artigat, southern France, summer 1542, during the reign of Francis I. Martin Guerre and Bertrande de Rols marry. A few years later, accused of having committed a robbery, Martin suddenly disappears. When, almost a decade later, a man arrives in Artigat claiming to be Martin, the Guerre family recognizes him as such; but doubts soon arise about his true identity.
